Such a beautiful and empathetic description of narcissism. It genuinely hurts my heart how narcissists are talked about. I still believe people should maintain distance and healthy boundaries and learn to recognize red flags and bad behaviors. It is possible to have empathy and still put yourself, your mental health, and your safety first. It is possible to be hurt by these people and recognize the person doing the hurting is mentally broken from something that happened long before you came into the picture. It's important to realize there is nothing you as a friend or partner can do to fix them, and to be kind, but not try to fix them.

When you talked about your client being diagnosed with bipolar in the hospital it reminded me of when I went in to the hospital for heart palpitations and was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and sent on my way. My therapist and I had a (tearful) laugh about it because a) how can you diagnose me off of an hour hospital visit and b) it wasn’t even right anyway because I was diagnosed afterwards with an actual physical condition causing heart palpitations 😂 i had been in therapy for years at that point and never had been diagnosed with GAD. I feel that ER doctors shouldn’t be making psychiatric diagnosis but that’s just me

Parents are divorced, Ethan and Olivia got separated and trying to reconcile, Moriah who was the rebel, seems like the most emotionally mature one. the goody goody Lydia seems to be making quite questionable choices, passive aggressive to her sister. Well i havnt watched it because im aware it will probably be very triggering for me and wow that was a huge punch in the guts moment re the leaning into the abuse as a way to take control back. Its exactly the route i went for years after my R**e at 14 my the person who i saw as a replacement father figure for my actual alcoholic extremely abusive narcissistic father. And indeed how i got into the bdsm scene. If i just said yes to anything and everything then i was the one in control - power cant be taken from me if im saying yes. It took years and years for me to allow anyone even slightly close to me in anywhere near a healthy way. Hardly any one i talk to gets this and seems to think well if that happened to you surely you would be terrified of sexual encounters etc. no matter that i explain that these are the two most common extreme responses either complete aversion or they way i went of creating the self delusion of being in control.

I've watched quite a few of your videos now, and I specifically sought out the ones about Shayne after watching your Borderline Abuse series. I'm honestly baffled by how much credit you gave him. For me, out of all of the cast members in all of the seasons of Love is Blind, he was by far the biggest / most memorable walking red flag.

I feel like watching this interview before the show will be a better baseline to the validity of her depiction on the show.

I think it's a combination of things. Some people just really arent good at their jobs, and its not like anyone hiring them is qualified enough to know that. Some people arent good at certain aspects of their job. Also i feel like the environment is really different, someone in a hospital maybe only has a limited amount of time to assess people versus long term treatment.

That was so interesting to hear about your client diagnosed in the ER with bipolar disorder! I know someone who suffers from treatment-resistant major depression. This person went to the ER once and was admitted into a psych ward, and the first clinician who evaluated that patient said, 'You have been misdiagnosed. You have bipolar disorder, not depression, and that's why nothing is helping you." That person was all of a sudden prescribed a slew of medications, including valproic acid, seroquel, and metformin!

So true. If Fiona never came forward publicly it would have blown over by now. She’s the one who has blown it. She’s not famous so there would be no interest. Similar to the woman Harry mentioned in his book Spare. She came forward of her own volition

It can!! I'm on the mend. My family and secure partner have all helped me by being there all the time. Consistency. Mostly my want to lead a stable and healthy life with stable relationships. It Is rock hard 24/7 work for a BPD mind and having secure people that support you is essential. We got this 🙋

In some moments I literally saw my abuser in "Darriens" face. The same grooming techniques. This was a very hard episode to watch for me, although I thought I processed it mentally well enough. Very triggering. Thank you, Dr. Honda for reacting to this and making it easier for me to cope with what I just saw.

What’s crazy is he says it in the show as she’s making these “crazy lucid dreams as if they where true” it’s scary cause she’s doing it the whole interview……

Having been in a damaging relationship with a malignant narcissist, and having dealt with a diagnosed schizophrenic stalker (thankfully briefly), as well as a charming but dangerous psychopath I was forced to flee for my life from, AND having PTSD, you'd think Baby Reindeer would have been triggering for me. I've researched the psychology, particularly behind narcissism, trying to understand what happened to me for years. But instead of being triggered by the show, I was just completely fascinated by the characters (while being blown away by the level of excellence in the acting and direction, and the amount of empathy it engendered). It's just a remarkable series. Once I started watching I could NOT stop. And then I immediately watched the Piers Morgan/Fiona Harvey interview, which then led me here. I guess I needed this. Closure. 🙂

( inadvertently penned the name of show ) also are you coming to your conclusions from the one viewing that we are seeing you watch now ? If so poor show man , this interview has been edited, and unlike a real life therapy session you are not able to ask questions. So I hope that you did watch at least once before you make your comments. Because I keep feeling that you are drawing conclusions as you go along without seeing the whole interview or being able to question her.
